Wireless Networking for the Business

Wireless Networking for the Business

You’re setting your new business office with five computers and you want to save connection costs. So you’re looking into Wireless Networking, but you’re a little confused and leery, because it’s unfamiliar, sounds difficult. You’ll probably need to bring in some expensive technician to do it. So your on the fence about the idea, until one of your younger employees tell you that you can do it yourself, and it’s about as easy as connecting a DVD player. So you say ok, and ask how to do it. He tells you that wireless networking sounds intimidating, complicated, like you need to be a geek to get it working – after all, it is wireless and a network, sounds like something NASA scientists do. But, he says, it’s really simple. In reality, it’s a matter of buying a few simple pieces of equipment, running a bit of software and plugging it all in. What we’re looking for are ethernet cables, an Ethernet Hub and wireless routers. Routers are just pieces of hardware that do that task of routing or forwarding information. In this case, it’s via wireless networking. They can all be found online at www.superwarehouse.com which offers some of the best prices out there for business computer equipment. Set up is simple, all it consists of connecting the router to your internet cable, plugging the Ethernet Cable in, and then plugging into an electrical socket. At this point, your office will be set up for wireless networking. Now that you’ve know how easy it is for Wireless Routers to be installed, you’ve got yours up and running, the next step is, your computers will all need a wireless card. Laptops are probably already WiFi ready, all the new ones these days come with a wireless card already installed, and if you want to convert your older laptop or your office desktop to wireless, you can get a external wireless card for under $50 at any computer parts store. They’re extremely simple to install, just run the software, then plug it in a USB slot and the computer will find the signal, you’re connected. You can have as many computers in the office connecting to the internet as you like with just one internet hook up. Though there’s the initial cost of buying wireless cards, you’ll save that investment in no time with savings on connection costs. And there’s no loss of speed or signal quality, no matter how many wireless cards are reading off the signal.
